On 29 September 2017, BRP-Rotax makes history once again, presenting the Rotax THUNDer, its first electric powerpack for Rotax racing carts, to the public at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg.

With its high-performance electric powertrain and powerful state-of-the-art lithium-ion batteries, the Rotax THUNDer is a premium class powertrain. This innovative eKart powerpack with a maximum output of 20 kW and 46 Nm easily measures up to combustion engine karts. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds and has a maximum speed of 130 km/h. The Rotax THUNDer also delivers a unique and enjoyable driving experience – environmentally friendly, sustainable, and free of noise and exhaust gases.

In 2018, upcoming racers line up for the world’s first eKart racing series, the German eKart Championships (Deutsche Elektro-Kart-Meisterschaft, or DEKM), with the high performance racing eKart Rotax THUNDer. And that’s not all: in 2019, BRP-Rotax presents its second generation of revolutionary eKarts at the Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Finals in Sarno in Italy, under the name of Project E20.
