At the world premiere of the 912 iS aircraft engine, some 180 distributors, journalists and aircraft company representatives from all around the world are amazed when they hear about the efficiency of its new powertrain. Rotax, by comparison, has worked for five years – from the idea to its implementation – on the groundbreaking engine. In the aircraft engines sector above all, the motto is evolution, not revolution. Judged by its estimated 20 year life span, the Rotax 912 iS engine lays the foundations for future aircraft engine adaptations and developments. What makes the four stroke four cylinder so special? A 70 percent reduction in fuel consumption! This also leads to a drastic reduction in emissions. Today (2019), the experience of around 22 aircraft manufacturers using the Rotax engine is indicating improvements in fuel consumption of up to 36 percent (compared with the previous 912 ULS model).
