INNOVATION:
CAN-AM SPYDER ROADSTER

Unique vehicle combination powered by Rotax engines

A SNOWMOBILE ON WHEELS

The revolutionary Can-Am Spyder creates an entirely new market segment.  In 2007, BRP presents a combination of motorcycle and roadster. Two wheels at the front and a (powered) wheel at the back make it a kind of “snowmobile on wheels”. The dream of relaxed to fast “cruising” is realized by enhancements to a popular Rotax engine. The Rotax 990 V-Twin has 998cc displacement, 4 valves per cylinder and a double overhead camshaft. The 106 HP output provides enough power to enable the Spyder’s semi-automatic five speed transmission to accelerate in top gear from a comfortable 50 km/h to motorway speed.  The two cylinder engine’s quietness and low fuel consumption mean that even less adventurous drivers can relax and enjoy safe journeys on country and mountain roads. This includes a safe driving experience thanks to ABS, a VSS stabilization system, traction control and ESP! Soon a global community of Spyder fans comes of age, travelling the world's roads on three wheels, rather than two.
